September's six matches saw Everton continue their Premier League campaign whilst also launching their charge in two cup competitions.
It was, in truth, a mixed month.
It began with a very good 2-1 win at Bolton, a game notable for Yakubu's first goal for Everton - just 11 minutes into his debut.
Nemanja Vidic's late header denied the Blues a point at home to Manchester United before unknown Ukrainians Metalist Kharkiv hit town.
The first round, first leg Uefa Cup tie had almost everything - including two red cards and two missed penalties - but ended 1-1.
A lacklustre 2-0 reverse at Aston Villa was swiftly followed by a 3-0 Carling Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
Yakubu was on the scoresheet again, with James McFadden weighing in with the other two goals.
And the month ended on a positive note, a clinical Goodison performance securing a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough.
First Joleon Lescott scored his fourth goal of a prolific opening few months of the season.
Another new boy, Steven Pienaar, then registered his first goal in the Blue of Everton with the second goal.
