How the kit was born
The Club has built up an understanding with retail partners Kitbag over the years and once again this close relationship has delivered the goods.
While not wanting a radical departure from previous seasons, the Blues were eager that they should enter the 2011/12 campaign with an essentially modern shirt that gave a nod to the classic kits of yesteryear.
Below is the brief – first conceived in May 2010 – which the designers were challenged to bring to life…
We must continue the theme from previous seasons and evolve the shirt rather than reinvent it. The true Everton Blue must be maintained.
The design should fuse retro and modern together to deliver a visually classic design but use modern fabrics and techniques.
We suggest the return to a traditional style collar that creates a visually classic and quality look and perhaps the use of a concealed button placket to keep the neck area clean.
A trim colour, perhaps to link in with the away design, could add something, but keep the Chang logo white.
We would suggest that you investigate the use of a new ‘marl’ style fabric that, while retaining the look of an old fashioned shirt, is actually a modern polyester fabric that has a marl colour mix in it to provide the right level of colour saturation. This will add visual detail and appeal to the shirt and also enhance the classic look and style.
The fabric should be peached so that comfort levels are increased and the handle of the fabric has a softer feel to it than those previously used.
The aim is to deliver a visual difference from previous home kits. Please also produce short and sock design options in Everton Blue as well as the usual white.
Please begin development of the kits ASAP with the above points in mind. If there are any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
