Season Review 2009/10

Everton mounted a stirring surge in the second half of the season to finish in a creditable eighth place in the Premier League.

A squad hit by an incredible number of injuries struggled initially before eventually regrouping and launching an impressive sequence of results that included wins over Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City (twice).

The FA cup run ended in a fourth round defeat to Birmingham, while the League Cup ended at the same stage with a 2-0 defeat at Tottenham.

There were high hopes of success in Europe as well, but these were dashed at the last 32 stage by an impressive Sporting Lisbon side.
