v Arsenal

Saturday 23 August K.O. 17:30

On This Day: 31/07

Everton signed Alan Biley ON THIS DAY 1981.

Howard Kendall made the striker his first signing when he was bought from Derby County for £300,000.

Evertonians nicknamed him ‘Spike' due to his Rod Stewart-esque hairstyle, but despite scoring two goals in his first two matches for the Blues a goal drought followed which resulted in him joining Portsmouth just 13 months after his arrival on Merseyside.

In his Everton career he made 21 appearances and scored three goals.
