Maurice Johnson was born in Glasgow ON THIS DAY in 1963.
He began his career with Partick Thistle before moving south of the border to play for Watford.
Unable to settle he returned to Scotland with Celtic where he quickly became a crowd favourite.
After a spell with French Club Nantes he returned to Scotland with Rangers â€“ a move which caused much controversy in Glasgow.
In 1991 he joined Everton for Â£1.75 million.
During his Blues career he made 38 appearances, scoring ten goals.
Everton lost in the final of the Simod Cup ON THIS DAY in 1989.
The Blues went down 3-4 to Nottingham Forest at Wembley.
