v Chelsea

Saturday 30 August K.O. 17:30

On This Day: 29/11

Everton beat Manchester City 9-0 ON THIS DAY in 1941.

The Blues had beaten City 4-3 at Main Road the week before and were in goalscoring mood again.

H.Jones scored two, as did Stevenson with the other goals coming from Bentham, Cook, Lyon, Mutch and an own goal.

They finished sixth in the Football League North (First Championship).

Mike Trebilcock was born in Gunnislake ON THIS DAY in 1944.

He began his career with Plymouth and was transferred to Everton for £20,000 in December 1965.

He made only 14 appearances for the club and scored five goals.

One of those games and two of those goals came in the 1966 FA Cup final when he was surprisingly picked ahead of Fred Pickering.

In January 1968 he was transferred to Portsmouth and finished his playing career with Torquay United.
