The game was the Toffees biggest win of the season.

Tommy Lawton and Alex Stevenson both scored hat-tricks with Simmons netting twice and Arthur scoring the other.


The Blues beat West Bromwich Albion 1-0 ON THIS DAY in 2002.

Tomasz Radzinski scored a cracking goal to give Everton all three points.

Li Tie's pass into Radzinski's path in the 35th minute was perfectly weighted and the Canadian striker took one touch before lashing an unstoppable shot past Russell Hoult.

The win took the Toffees into third place in the Premiership.

It was their highest league position at that stage of the season since 1984-5…when they had won the league!
