On This Day: 22/11
Alex Scott was born in Falkirk ON THIS DAY in 1936.
An integral part of the Glasgow Rangers side of the early 1960s he was sold to Everton for £40,000 in February 1963.
The right-winger was known as ‘Chico' to the fans because his swarthy skin tanned easily to a Mexican hue.
His team-mates called him ‘The Head Waiter' in reference to his habit of running with one arm held stiffly, as if carrying a tray!
Scott helped the Blues win the title at the end of his first season and later the FA Cup in 1966.
In September 1967 he was sold to Hibernian for £15,000.
Dixie Dean scored his first hat-trick of the season ON THIS DAY in 1930.
The Blues won the match against Stoke 5-0.
Tommy Johnson also netted twice in front of the 21,496 crowd at Goodison.
At the end of the season Dean had scored 39 goals in the League and a further nine in the FA Cup to head the Everton goalscoring list once again.
