Jimmy Settle made his only appearance of the season ON THIS DAY in 1899.
The match was a 0-0 draw against Burnley at Turf Moor.
He went on to make 269 appearances for the Club, scoring 97 goals.
It was once written about him: ‘Few are more dangerous near goal, often scores when the goalkeeper isn't looking. This diminutive marvel has won the highest honours and deserves them all.'
During his time at the Blues he won medals in the 1906 and 1907 FA Cup Finals, collecting a winners' medal in the first.
The inside forward also won six caps for England and left Everton to join Stockport County in the summer of 1908, retiring a year later.
