On This Day: 21/11
Joe Royle won his first game in charge of Everton ON THIS DAY in 1994.
It was made all the more special because it was a win against arch-rivals Liverpool at Goodison Park.
The game was the first derby to be played in front of an all-seated crowd and was the 180th meeting between the two clubs in all competitions.
Duncan Ferguson, on-loan from Rangers at the time, scored his first goal for Everton and Paul Rideout grabbed the other.
After his first taste of a Merseyside derby Ferguson said: “I really enjoyed the atmosphere which was every bit as good as I had expected it to be.
“Everton's fans were a different class as they have been ever since I arrived here.
“It now means at the age of 22 I have played in derby games in Dundee, Glasgow and Merseyside and I feel that is something of an achievement.â€
