Walter Smith signed him from Hearts for Â£1.5 million in October 2000.
He is a player who is comfortable at either left-back or wing-back, he has the ability to deliver accurate crosses and also possesses the talent to get himself into goalscoring positions.
A former under-21 Scotland international, Gary has made the step up to the senior side, and is now a regular for both Everton and Scotland.
Colin Harvey was born in Liverpool ON THIS DAY in 1944.
One of the greatest ever servants to the club, he signed as an apprentice and became a professional in October 1962.
He went on to make almost 400 appearances for the first team helping them to win the League title and FA Cup in that time.
Harvey was transferred to Sheffield Wednesday in 1974 and retired as a player in 1976.
Since then he has filled many positions on the Everton coaching staff including manger and youth team coach. He retired in 2003.
