Everton beat Derby County 6-2 ON THIS DAY in 1954.
At the time the Blues were in the Second Division.
Eddie Wainwright scored a hat-trick with Dave Hickson, Jack Lindsay and John Willie Parker grabbing the others.
That result was the start of a spell of exemplary goalscoring from Everton where they scored 21 goals in their next five games including the 6-1 demolition of Brentford and a 12 goal thriller against Portsmouth which the Blues won 8-4.
At the end of the season the Toffees were promoted.
Everton beat Queens Park Rangers 2-0 ON THIS DAY in 1988.
A crowd of 24,724 at Goodison Park saw a QPR own-goal and Neil Pointon give the Blues all three points.
