Dixie Dean made his final appearance for Everton ON THIS DAY in 1937.
It was the Everton legend's 399th game for the Blues before he moved to Notts County early the following year.
A crowd of 17,018 turned up for the 1-1 draw with Birmingham City with Albert Geldard scoring for the Toffees.
During his time at the club, Dean, arguably Everton's best ever player, scored 377 goals in 431 games and is still Everton's all-time top goalscorer.
Jack Hedley was born in Wellington Quay ON THIS DAY in 1923.
He joined the Blues from North Shields during the Second World War and made 54 post war League appearances before being sold to Sunderland.
He finished his career with Gateshead.
