The Blues went to Stamford Bridge in the Third Round of the FA Cup and emerged victorious thanks to a goal from Alex Stevenson.

Everton went out in the next round against Sunderland at Goodison Park.

The Blues thrashed Crewe Alexandra 9-1 ON THIS DAY in 1944.

A McIntosh hat-trick was the pick of the bunch with Tommy Lawton and Alex Stevenson scoring two each and J.Boothway and Eddie Wainwright grabbing a goal apiece.

Everton scored nine goals again in the Football League North (Second Championship) competition against Chester, in March, when the final score was 9-2.
