v Wolfsburg

Thursday 18 September K.O. 20:05

On This Day: 07/12

Everton beat West Bromwich Albion 3-0 ON THIS DAY in 1985.

The match, at the Hawthorns, was played in front of 12,206 people.

Everton never gave West Brom a chance, taking an early lead through Kevin Sheedy and creating a number of chances thereafter, with Pat Van Den Hauwe extending the lead before half-time.

Although Albion fought back in the second half, Everton's defence held firm and Gary Lineker finished off the scoring.

The result kept Albion at the bottom of the table, which is where they stayed for the rest of the season.

The Blues beat West Ham 4-0 ON THIS DAY in 1991.

A crowd of 21,563 saw all three Everton strikers score.

Tony Cottee put the home side ahead after just eight minutes. Within a minute Peter Beagrie had doubled the lead and by the interval Peter Beardsley had made it 3-0.

Mo Johnston opened his goals account for the Toffees on 53 minutes to make it 4-0.
