On This Day: 07/10

Everton beat Nottingham Forest 6-0 ON THIS DAY in 1961.

Two goals apiece from Jimmy Fell and Roy Vernon along with goals from Jimmy Gabriel and Sandy Young secured the result.

The 6-0 scoreline was the Blues' biggest winning margin of the season.

But for an 8-3 win in the penultimate game of the season this would have been Everton's best win of the season.

The Blues played their 3,000th First Division fixture ON THIS DAY in 1980.

Everton were the first club to reach such a milestone.

A crowd of 16,523 saw Everton beat the Seagulls 3-1 at the Goldstone ground.

The goals came from Mick Lyons, Joe McBride and Steve McMahon.
