Everton beat Stoke City 2-0 ON THIS DAY in 1984.

The start of the Blues' run to Wembley in the FA Cup began with the win at Stoke.

Andy Gray and Alan Irvine scored the goals for the Toffees.

Everton went on to beat Gillingham, Shrewsbury, Notts County and Southampton before the final at Wembley where they beat Watford 2-0 thanks to goals from Andy Gray and Graeme Sharp.

Everton beat Blackburn Rovers 5-1 ON THIS DAY in 1917.

Joe Clennell scored a hat-trick with Morris grabbing the other two.

The Blues finished the season fifth in the Lancashire Section Principal Tournament.
