On This Day: 01/05
Everton drew 1-1 with Glasgow Rangers ON THIS DAY in 1902.
One month earlier England had met Scotland at Ibrox, a game that had attracted a massive crowd at Glasgow Rangers' stadium.
Tragically, part of a stand had collapsed, killing 26 people and injuring over 500 others.
Almost immediately a fund was set up to raise money for the dependants of the disaster, and a British League Cup was organised.
A crowd of 8,000 at Goodison saw Everton play Rangers in the semi-final.
The draw meant that the tie went to a replay at Celtic Park.
Everton beat Swansea City 3-1 ON THIS DAY in 1982.
A crowd of 16,243 were at the Vetchfield Stadium.
Everton's goals came through Graeme Sharp, who scored twice, and Adrian Heath.
The match was part of a six game unbeaten streak, which saw the Blues win four in a row.
