On This Day: 01/02
Kevin Kilbane was born in Preston ON THIS DAY in 1977.
The left-winger started his career with his home-town club, making more than 50 appearances before moving to West Brom for £1.25 million in May 1997. In December 1999 he moved to Sunderland in a £2.5 million deal before moving to Everton for £1 million on transfer deadline day in September 2003.
Kevin has established himself in the Republic of Ireland squad in the last couple of seasons and was part of Mick McCarthy's squad for the 2002 World Cup finals in Japan and Korea, featuring in every game for Ireland.
He is proving to be a hit with the Goodison faithful who have recently christened him ‘Zidane’ because of his pace and skill. He is adept at providing crosses and supplying the front men. Kevin enjoys scoring himself and can often be found in the opposing penalty area.
Happy Birthday Kevin!
