Ladies, Reserve & Academy Players of the Year

Ladies, Reserve & Academy Players of the Year

Everton's Ladies were still buzzing from their dramatic FA Cup win over Arsenal when Jill Scott was named their player of the season.

Fittingly Scott was heavily involved in the 3-2 win over the Gunners, little more than 24 hours before receiving her prize.

The England midfielder has been a key player for Mo Marley's side all season, popping up regularly with important goals from midfield.

Jill said: "The whole team has played well this season and I am pleased with my own performances. It was great to win the Cup yesterday and then win this today."

The Reserve Player of the Season was Shane Duffy, the 18-year-old Irish central defender.

Duffy was thrust into action in the torrential rain in Athens in the Europa League earlier this season, before making a full debut at Goodison Park against BATE Borisov.

He's also been a regular at the heart of the defence for the Blues' second string, his recent performances and character seeing him handed the skipper's armband.

International recognition has followed, with Duffy switching from Northern Ireland to the Republic and being called up for an end of season training camp.

He told evertontv: "Alan Stubbs and Andy Holden have been different class with for me over the last season or so. They are centre halves as well and that has helped me."

Also picking up an award was goalkeeper Adam Davies, the 17-year-old stopper taking the Academy Player of the Season awards.

Davies has been in goal as Everton's young players reached the quarter finals of the FA Youth Cup and launched a serious title challenge in the Under-18s league.

He has been consistent all season, even earning call-ups to the reserves where he hasn't disappointed.

Adam said: "We were unlucky not to win the league but hopefully next season we can do it. I kept 12 cdlean sheets on the bounce and that is down to the whole team as well.

"I will get my head down and kick on and hopefully improve as a goalkeeper."
