June
June was all about Euro 2012 as Poland and Ukraine took their turn to host the continent's best.
There was good news for Leighton Baines as he got the nod for England, and though omitted from the initial 23, a spate of injuries meant Phil Jagielka was soon joining him.
Nikica Jelavic's form earned him a call-up for Croatia, while John Heitinga was in for Holland and Darron Gibson for the Republic of Ireland.
Sadly, it would prove a tournament to forget for almost all of them, with the Three Lions the only nation to progress from their group.
Roy Hodgson's men ultimately suffered their inevitable penalty shootout defeat against Italy in the quarter-finals and that was that for Everton's interest in a tournament eventually won by reigning champions Spain.
