Too many times was he pushed forward to accommodate others and not performed. He does not make the killer passes but helps keep the ball moving. Also when another DM is picked he gets lost on his responsiblities and also tries to get forward to try and make something happen. If he was left to do his job he does it as good as anyone in the premiership and if playing with the right partner in the middle allows them to get forward and create something.
To me he is the best player we have when playing in the right position and we should build our team around him.

However as you said he does not make those 'killer' passes. It seems to me he is always passing the ball backwards or holding the ball until he looses it. Don't get me wrong he's a solid player but lacks the creativity to see the strikers through on goal.
