THOUGHT HE DID QUITE WELL ! MADE A DODGEY CROSS FIELD BALL EARLY ON ! BUT GREAT BALL INTO TO CAHILL ( WHICH CAHILL MISSED ) ! LOOKED HAPPY TO TAKE THE BALL AND HOLD ONTO IT LOOKING FOR A PASS ! NOT AS SLOW AS EVERYONE HAS SAID ! HE TACKLED WELL ! BUT WE DIDNT GET A LONG RANGE SHOT FROM HIM ! ( HOPE MOYES HASNT DRILLED IT OUT OF HIM ALREADY ;-0 )

Yea m8 i agree i tot he was quite solid. He did miss place one pass early on but wasnt afraid to take ball and comfortable on it. Put in 1 or 2 decent challenges altho he was wrongly penalised for 1 of em by assistant ref. Have to say i was not the happiest wen we signed him i believe muni wud be better invested in a goal scorer but id prefer him playing than billy and wiv ossie injured im glad we had him to fill in.

I think were all wondering that, would he ever have gone through a Utd game without having 1 shot at goal, still 1st game so lets hope he'll show us it at home next week..............

Thought he played well, think hes going to be a regular starter and for the reported fee good value for money.

simple, instead of Rodwell. What has he done to warrant being ahead of Gison in the last 2yrs.

WELL PERSONALLY I DONT THINK RODWELL AND FELLI SHOULD PLAY TOGETHER ONE OR THE OTHER FOR ME ! ALSO ITS A SQUAD THING ! NEED MORE THAN TWO CENTRE MIDFIELDERS !

Mentioned in another thread that considering the short amount of time he must have had with the squad that it was a pretty solid performance. Hopefully after he trains a bit more with the squad we can be lining him up for shots at goal more often.

We'll have to wait and see with Rodwell, maybe he'll play all three and have one pushed up the field more from the midfield. Overall though it was nice just to see two actual central midfielders in the middle. It always makes me laugh when people looking from the outside consider Heitinga's actual posistion to be CDM because he's ended up playing there so much recently.

but surely barkley would be a much better option behind saha, give him the free role behind the striker and lets see what the kid can do.

Rodwells form has suffered from injuries and not being played when he should of been, certain players have the intelligence to start playing at a very young age and rodwell was one of those, he would of been a far better player then he is now, with 2 seasons under his belt instead of being a bit part player, but moyes decided otherwise.

moyes did the same with rooney, as soon as ferguson signed him he put him in the firing line from the off, and hasnt looked back since.

Rodwell is injured currently so can't play.

I have to agree with the Barclay situation - He should be there instead of Cahill - Or at least on the bench and put on for the last 30 - 20 mins.

I agree, Barkley is the only player right now who gets me excited about the years ahead. Get him playing , even if its just from the bench. And it might help get some positive atmosphere around the stadium again

I also agree! Start Barkley in place of Cahill. Cahill would be more effective coming off the brnch as an impact sub when the opposition are a bit knackered

and i thought Gibson had a decent performance. Not great but only been with the squad for only 24 hrs!

He made some good passes (like this fantastic chip pass to Cahill in the first half). He also put in a couple of good challenges. Wasn't outstanding, but he put in a good shift.

A few wayward passes, but he will iron those out with a bit more game time.  Interesting to see what Moyes does to our midfield when Felli Ossie Rodwell and Gibson are all fit.

He'll probably pick Neville and Heitinga.
