    I was disappointed to see the "Mongs" and "Communications Tower Hand in Anus" threads completely expunged. They contained some work which was almost inoffensive and possibly relevant. Would it not have been better, simply to delete the unacceptable text and pictures from the posts, and replace it with a "Removed by Moderator" notice, citing the rule that had been broken? Repeat offenders could be served with temporary bans, again with the reasons posted on the forum for everyone to see. That way, we would be more aware of where the mark lies, and find it easier not to cross it.

    How do you talk to them? To be honest, I find them somewhat intimidating, having read the revelations in this thread- I don't want uniformed stasi turning up on my doorstep, armed with laptops and frowns.

    Maybe we could forward this entire thread to the Forum Emperor, somehow.

    In fairness, the moderator who threatened to turn up on my doorstep was a poor, and feeble minded, soul.

    There was, on a previous forum template, anonymous moderating... which meant if you gave someone moderator status they could delete or alter whatever they liked and the web team had no way or seeing who had moderated what or when.

    Which lead to one of the moderators sitting online just watching.....and waiting for this hapless sod to come online and post something... once he did so the other guy would delete a whole load of things and watch as the users went ape_shit and pointed to the evidence that it had to this poor chap as he was the only moderator who was online...and of course....loads of posts went missing every time the poor bugger turned up..... it did his head right in.

    It should be noted that, this was at a time when you were given the task of being a moderator if you emailed them asking to be one....which didn't help.

    In the end he took it so badly....that he formed a grudge against anyone who had a pop at the moderation in general....he took every comment as a personal insult..... not a great idea for a moderator on an internet forum..... and having been goaded into a rage one day.... I convinced him that he could track every one of us down if he had access to our IP addresses.... which the mods here can see.

    Which he took as gosple and without researching it sent me a pm threatening to pay me a visit.

    But in all fairness, these people are very much removed from the webteam.

    He's a nice chap.....here is his last email to me, dated the     28/03/2012:




    Dear XXXXXXXX,




    I have deleted this post which you left on the Blueroom:




    People who use their first post on here to moan about something,
    particularly by using words such as 'farce' should, in all
    seriousness, be banned and burnt to death. With fire. Its the only way
    they'll learn. 




    Please refrain from posting messages of this nature again.

    Let's see if any more constructive suggestions are posted on this thread, then we can send an email to Mr. Gamble, asking him to consider our ideas.

    I reckon that, if the moderation becomes more specific and the members more familiar with the detail of the rules, then the forum will become, to an extent, self-moderating. For my own part, I know where I live and am aware that I may turn up, at any time of the day or night, without my prior knowledge.

    Mark Rowan used to be head muppet, not sure if he still is now. Matthew Gamble was his number two. Then there was some guy called Craig Davies I seem to remember.  In all fairness, it was pretty shambolic in retrospect.... but a number of us got them to have a meeting over the state of the place (it was far worse back then).... a few forum members attende (not me, probably my only saving grace in the situation) and Everton said that Ripple Effect (the company that manages Everton's online presence) would be there.

    Ripple Effect didn't turn up, some forum members had a moan and Mark Rowan did nothing.

    OGV, you can't say I didn't warn you...and in fairness, that was all I was attempting to impart at the time.

    Still, at least after a decade of having a forum its good to see the quote function works well...

    Well... I'm sure someone did say something racial two weeks before it was shut down... I doubt the two went hand in glove. But there you go, its happened a few times
