Knowallaboutit said:Breaking news here is that David Moyes is considering offering out of contract veteran striker John Carew (33) a trial at Everton FC after the players efforts to join AC Milan were rejected.
Giant sized Norwegian Carew, who has scored goals a plenty for both country and former club sides Lyon, Aston Villa, Stoke and West Ham is seeking a new club and was offered a trial at AC Milan two weeks ago. Unfortunately, concerns surrounding his fitness meant that he was released by the Italian Super club and remains unattached.
Meanwhile, it is thought that cash strapped Everton FC may be willing to offer Carew a trial to see if he can add weight to their meagre striking options. Fans favourite Nikica Jelavic has yet to score in the Premier League in 2013, and Victor Anichebe has again become injured, whilst the remaining striker options at the Merseyside club are as yet unproven at the top level.
A fit Carew could no doubt do a worthy job for the Toffees until the end of the season at least, although yet another veteran player in the squad could anger fans who want to see an injection of youth and pace in the side.
With the Everton side looking tired and jaded in recent weeks, the addition of any quality player may be a boost to a club seeking their first trophy since 1995 and Champions League qualification.
More as we get it....
