The league cup was disappointing as we lost to Brentford last season and Moyes selection against Leeds was strange given our poor record in that competition.
The signings have been hit & miss. Mirallas- just what we needed at good price. Oviedo-seems a good player but considering the 5 million price-tag for a player who was out of contract in June just seemed bizarre, especially his lack of playing time.
Naismith & Hitzlesperger are championship standard players, even tho bosmans there is still better quality out there like Holtby ,Diame, Klose etc....
Kennedy and Stones seem good players but when will we get to see them?
Dont understand why Moyes hasn't taken advantage of the loan market as he normally pulls out a few crackers.Just look what a difference a player like Lukaku would of added to us.
To answer the question as we have an f.a. cup 1/4 final to look forward to and 5th place still to play for then i would have taken that.
Most evertonians im sure do appreciate the job Moyes has done but fast forward 11 years and we are a regular top 7 side so expectations should be to better last and previous seasons, surely.Even Moyes says this is the best side hes had so why shouldnt fans expect progress?
Where i am critical of Moyes is not trusting our youth when there is nothing to lose.He would rather play Naismith and Hitzlesperger just because of their experience NOT quality. If you look at our team we have no players under 24.It would do no harm blooding one or two youngsters (say Barkley and Kennedy).Everyone knows we have no finances so its the most logical thing to do and fans would be onside. We dont even have to start the youngsters, just give them 25mins or so to replace tiring or mis-firing players.
Moyes record of bringing thru youngsters isn't great over the years and the result? Many are leaving for lower-league sides rather than sign new contracts-everyone criticises Gosling for leaving but honestly did he get the same chance as Bily?
Ive noticed when Moyes first brought in Bily and Fellaini he gave them every oppurtunity and time to progress even though their performances weren't up to it.When Barkley,Duffy,Gosling,McAleny,Rodwell and Vellios got a chance they were immediately dropped if they made a mistake!
That can't be right.

I think we need to be honest and say we get carried away with how good we are when things are going well and a little over critical when reality bites and the small squad and lack of any real world class talent bites. Preseason 5th/6th/7th would have been what we were aiming at with 5th being the absolute pinnacle of what i personally expected us to achieve and a genuine shot at finally lifting some silverware in one of the cups. I felt we wasted that opportunity in the league cup by playing a weakened side against leeds and we could very well have gone on to lift it but now we have a genuine chance in the F.A. Cup again and if we won that it would class as a fantastic season.

i just can't physically or mentally read that, i'm sorry
