We got off to a good start and we are 6th in the league. is that good enough given our current squad and resources? or should we be doing better. what do we need to break into the top 4? or can that only be done with more money?

We got off to a great start because we have a good squad.. but unfortunately no depth.  Just unproven youngsters who Moyes doesn't seem to trust.  Which is fine by me.. people criticize Moyes for not playing our young players, but if he doesn't see them as ready for the premiership, why should he be forced to play them?

He has decided to cast our lot with our talented but shallow first team.  We are slipping a bit, but that's what happens when you don't replenish your ranks in the January window.  Just look at Newcastle.  They have been on a tear since their January French Revolution.

Moyes has taken us as far as he can with the resources he has been given.  I would argue that there are few managers that can do a better job with these financial constraints than Moyes.  I fully believe he is the best man for the job at Everton.  Sadly, I do believe he will leave in the summer.  I cannot fault him at all for this though.  People bang on about him "holding the club hostage" by not signing a new contract, but it's rubbish.  He has given ten years and his very best efforts at Everton.  You can see he wants to win and if Kenwright and the board are not prepared to match his ambitions, who can fault him for wanting to move on?

I've read on multiple Toffee fan websites where people are saying they will be happy if he moves on.  I don't know if they are saying this out of anger or if they really feel this way about the man.  Regardless, I don't see us achieving the consistent results at the top of the premiership without Moyes.  I really hope I'm proved wrong though.

thats a great post Andy. i agree with it entirely tho i think this bit may need clarifyi8ng...

"You can see he wants to win and if Kenwright and the board are not prepared to match his ambitions.."

do we have anyone on the board who has the money. i know they are rich but epl club owners today tend to be billionaires not just millionaires.

I think Moyes is over-rated .Honestly . I think he shows in his tactics how limited he really is ,he doesn't use the kids because he doesn't want to take risks ,which shows in the results this year , he is a defender by trade and by nature
For all the rave reports he gets why does no one want him ! For those who remember Smith and before would you have taken Moyes before he came ? There are more like him and better out there ,we have and he has reached the pinnacle of this partnership ,we need a fresh face and ideas ,what about Alan Irvine ? We played well with him in the management team if he gets a good man behind him to cover his flaws
But Moyes ,no more for me ,after many years watching all I see is a waste of opportunity

    Good luck tonight blues

seriously, anyone who thinks we would be better off without moyes in charge is obviously off their head on crystal meth.

he would be a hard act to follow. walter smith is well respected but under him we were relegation fodder every season.

who would we replace moyes with, if it became necessary? and could they do any better without cash?

Or capable of forming their views based upon sound reasoning. I agree some on here are clueless but there are rational and persuasive arguments for a change of manager.

Yeah we were doing great before moyes came :S I am entirely grateful to Moyes for us now being a consistent top 10 team. Shame we haven't been able to clinch silverware especially when you see Swansea and Bradford in the final of a cup!! But people seem to forget where we were a few years back pre Moyes. I know we can't daunt on this but Moyes transformed our club and in my eyes it has been a satisfying season thus far but if this bad run of form continues then it may be school teachers comment of 'could have done better, see me after class'.  CL is 100% out of reach now with even the Europa league qualification being thrown into doubt if we don't buck up our ideas. So the FA cup is the real chance for the team to go all out. A good cup run i.e. wembley and a sustained position in the perm i.e. 6th 7th is another successful season for Moyes in my eyes given his challenge of lack of depth and funds. You can only go so fast in a Vauxhall 1.4 litre Astra, Kenwright needs to buy us an upgrade car like a BMW 3 series in the shape of new forwards and get rid of those silly mud flaps like Steven Naismith if we are to break into top 4.

Against Modern Day Football, but it would be boss if it happens to Everton though!!

To many draws but considering our financial state to other clubs I feel we have done ok I think we will finish 6th or 7th and hope to bring home the fa cup.

Same old if you ask me, we just havent taken our chances to stay in the top 4 this season, hence all the frigging draws we've had and the stupid losses to Reading and Norwich! obviously were doing well to be in 6th, if we finish 6th and win the fa cup, i'd be happy

he asked a question..... I gave him my answer.

So far, it hasn't been a good season.

Could have been worse, I could have wittered on about winning the FA Cup in February
