always hard to say without seeing it first, but..if if yer floorboards are in good nick why dont you just run your timber on top of your floorboards, same on yer ceiling.. put yer upright timbers 350 centres, stagger yer noggins as it adds more strength.. wack yer plasterboard on chuck in a load of rockwall insulatuon, and then stick plasterboard on the otherside, get some scrim and tape up the joints, buy yerself a bag of multifinish plaster ..mix it up.. add a layer..then just as its going off add the other layer for a smooth finish..throw some paint over it a day later when its dry (colour of your choice) then stick yer skirting board and coving on..then stand back admiring your work with a cup of tea and congratulate yerself on being a man...EASY!!!! :)

Cheers bud, got it sorted. Got the head plate fixed on today. I'm getting my mate to plaster it. I can do small plastering jobs but big jobs hell no..be there for a week trying to smooth it out and end up putting my fist trough it.

Cut a hole narrower than the top of the studding but long enough to spin a piece between the joists ( but not too tight as it wont finish spinning ) and put a piece to spin between the joists at about a metre intervals
