    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/england/9858898/Former-Leeds-and-England-defender-Danny-Mills-says-players-would-do-almost-anything-to-get-an-edge.html

This makes Lance Armstrong's shenanigans seem almost tame. These nutters, apart from cheating, were making conscious decisions to risk their future health, as a matter of routine. It must still go on. Does anyone remember Tommy Gravesen having a bit of a fall-out with Real Madrid, for refusing to take part in these mucky schemes?

“Players would do anything to get an edge on team-mates or opponents. People said: ‘Creatine’s bad for you, people are dying’. Taken in wrong amounts yes. But it allows you to build lean muscle quicker. I took it."

No, no it is not. At this point Danny I think you are playing for the cameras. That bullsh*t was the worst kind of scaremongering that went round when people didn't know what creatine was. What a nobber.

Only read the back of the bottle while taking a dump just to pass time mate... Can't drink it, it's not my taste.

I like Penderyn single malt, it's smooth with not rough after-taste.

I have a vague memory that creatine was actually allowed in cycle racing in the 1990s, despite other substances being banned. At that time, in that sport, there was even a limit on how much caffeine you were allowed to have on board- there was a recommended maximum number of cups of coffee you could drink, on the day of a race/time trial.

Is creatine a banned substance now? Does it have any long-term side effects?

creatine is naturally occurring in red meat... I don't believe it has been banned.... it helps with endurance mainly though protein synthesis... it is transported with water into the muscle which leads to bloating... and... I would imagine... in top level athletes who are pushing their body to the limits... dehydration... which is the only instance I am aware of where people have complained about creatine.... if you are running around and sweating etc... the last thing you need is a substance which acts like a diuretic (albeit the water is retained in the muscle instead of being p.issed out).... Long term side effects... I'll put money on it now.. that as long as you consume enough water.. and don't hammer it... the answer will be no...

    Interesting stuff- ta.

If it occurs naturally in red meat, this explains why vegetarians are wimps, doesn't it? If you look at animals, they can be split into two categories: cats, birds and dogs are in group A, while cows, sheep and rabbits are in group F. Group A beasts- the ones that possess the resources to kill and eat meat- are more intelligent than the lower species in group F. I conclude that veggies must also, inevitably, be dullards. Secondly, it would be unfair on children, not to eat as much dead stuff as possible, because they inherit their Dads' characteristics- this is how evolution works- who would not wish to give their kids the best start possible?

I am going to have a bacon butty now.
