Everything in this world is 'fixed' to help line the pockets of the rich......

Sorry mate, you're quite right, I only got to the first bit and assumed it was solely that article.

Well, I've read it through and taken into account the amount of times the words 'estimated figures' cropped up...and yes, the premis that more is lost through tax avoidance than benefit fraud makes perfect sense. The rich have obviously got more money to squirrel away, so avoiding paying tax on millions (for example) is bound to account for a bigger figure than somebody claiming false benefits.

I still maintain that both forms of fraud are wrong. One cannot make a case for saying the rich are more so simply because the amount of money is greater.

Earlier in this topic sambo mentioned the revolution idea...I don't know if you've read Animal Farm by Orwell but he had human nature spot on. Rich or poor, it makes no difference...we are all human and our true nature will always out.

It will ever be thus.... until some sort of action group pays a decent hitman to take out a leading figure or two.

The chairman of Goldman Sachs for example. That might actually cause some sort of meaningful change.

I wouldn't condone it though. But if someone did take that route.... you can't really argue that there weren't enough warning signs

You would have expected al Qaeda or the Taliban or whatever to have had a go at this lot by now, after their success with the World Trade Centre. Useless, they are. They must be absolute nutcases, not to have capitalised on such a good start. Their first problem, as far as I can make out, is branding. They should ditch the two trade names and re-launch themselves with an attractive new name and logo. There are plenty of people who would give their left arm for an opportunity to suicide-bomb Goldman Sachs' headquarters, but how can you expect to recruit good staff with such ambiguous, tired marketing?

Secondly, by aligning themselves with Islam, they make themselves a straight turn-off for consumers of other religions. Any attempt to appeal to white, working class people in Blackburn will be undermined by the anti-Islamist rhetoric which fills the Daily Mail that these people read. They should drop the religion and sell their bomb plans to a more populist audience. Every successful business prospers off the back of idiots. Even if your mission statement is "We will destroy Western Judeo-Christian Capitalism", it will pay not to display it prominently in every pamphlet. A little placque on the wall of the MD's office will suffice.

By aligning themselves with other disaffected groups, their support may be swelled with the minimum of effort, and make them more of a fugitive target for the CIA. At the same time, this strategy will have knock-on benefits in gaining the support of people who would not normally consider terrorism among their favourite things. Meibion Glyndwr, for instance, the far-centre Welsh arsonists’ collective, shares its initials with a well-loved defunct brand of sports car, making that organisation attractive to nostalgia buffs. Viewing figures for Heartbeat regularly top three million suggestible fools. It is all in the details.

    Lovely stuff.

I'm serious though, we've witnessed cold blooded murder by tyrant governments (and those who hold themselves aloft as democratic) and global corporations. And on the whole the public reaction is short term outrage, depending on the severity a few martyrs come into being... and the rest of us move on with a slightly more cynical view of the world.

And much as it would be wrong, I wonder what to public reaction would be to someone who pretty much deserves it, got taken out of the situation in the name of a better world and in the hope that it served as lesson to their peers.

I mean, can you imagine what the tone would be like in retail banking today if we'd just seen the a third high level executive destroyed in his own home.

Would the world, outside of this awful incident, taken from a holistic perspective be a better place with a brighter future?
