I wonder where that leaves Moyes and signing a new contract.  If i recall he was holding out to see if the club showed any ambition in the transfer window.  I agree with most of you in that it was too big a risk to fork out 8.6m on a player who may have taken up a table in the physio's room but if we had 8.6m to spend then surely there should have been a plan B and the move for Fer should not have been leaft until the last minute.

Given out current position, which is way beyond my expectation at this point in the season and how we have been performing the last half a dozen games we need reinforcements and i see this as a missed opportunity to lift the squad.

We can say we have Mirralls back and Gibson back and Coleman coming back, three very important players but these three have been in the treatment room most of the season and it is highly probable that they will be there again between now and the end of the season.

If moyes signed a new contract now, it might be the lift we need to kick on to the next level.

yep agreed...i can't believe Moyes had one one player on his wish list......and if we had moved for Fer 2 or 3 weeks ago, then we'd have known in plenty of time that we needed to switch our attention to other transfer targets.....

i agree - we gambled to get the diamond in the bargain box on the last day of the sale and it backfired -
buying diamonds requires better planning - more homework and the willingness to pay a premium -
the bargain box holds mostly misfits and unwanted gifts and mostly you end up getting exactly what you paid for - something with less than apparant value

If we just concentrate on the pitch and finish in the top 4, then we will have no problem in getting Moyes to sign a new contract with Champions League football on the horizon. Who knows, we may even win a trophy as well this year? This can be our best season in over 25 years!

Im worried about sat now.....Not that I will be but I can see sections of the crowd getting on boards back etc. We need an early goal to settle things down a bit. 3 Points on sat more important than a new player. As previously said we have Gibson and Mirallas coming back to fitness so that can only be positive. We are in position we are in now without them for a huge chunk of season so fingers crossed they stay fit and lets see where we finish....

We play oldham in cup and yea they got a good result against liverpool but we should really be getting through this round comfortably.

We do not have any other distractions like other teams around us either.

we had no intention of spending 8.5 million , the usual smoke screen by our board, we only went for targets we had no chance of getting and players like the guy from bruge and diame were ignored, we may not of got them but we never even made an attempt, the guy from bruge was good enough last window so why not now
