Is this why we have spent £8.5M?

As we all know, we aren't the richest club in the world, and I don't think anyone expected us to spend anywhere near the amount we are spending on this lad, but I think I understand why we have spent this. Fellaini has a £25M release clause in his contract, and if we don't get into the Champions League, at the end of the season he will want to leave and the clause in his contract will be activated. If we were to qualify for the Champions League, that would do the club the world of good financially, especially if we get into the Group Stages and possibly play a really big team. I believe that the club are willing to invest in players in hope that we can get into the Champions League, and if we do then we will make the money back, and even if we fall short then Fellaini will leave and we will get the money back that way. Bit obvious really  :D
