wish we had got him.  I really do.  Spurs only paid 1.5m for him!

I wonder if he's been hyped just because he is half english and an everton fan... i watched out for him after we were linked... but I can't say he'd make a big difference for us... obviously if we'd signed him I'd have been happy... but I don't think he's the difference between us making champions league or missing out... good luck to him...

At 22 and a full German international 1.5 mil sounds on paper like good value. Would have been a decent addition to our squad for that sort of money. Sadly went chasing the dollar at spurs where he'll likely get far less opportunities than with us.

He captained the German U21 national side.  Has showed loads of potential.  And at that price, Spurs have got an absolute bargain.  I'm gutted to be honest.  My flat mate is a Spurs fan and thinks he'll make an immediate impact with the loss of Sandro.

sure, there's opportunity value there... but big wages and a transfer fee for a future prospect possibly isn't what we need right now... which is someone who is going to come in and help push us up the table... a big ask I know but that's what we need...

If I'm being honest I've not seen enough (pretty much nothing) of him to say whether he'd have been any good or not to us.

Contract wrangling aside I'm not sure why Schalke would have let his contract run down to zip if he is a really good prospect. Surely it would have made sense for them to increase his wages, extend his contract and then sell him for a bigger fee. If he's good enough to make an immediate impact in the Prem then he must have been decent in the Bundesliga so doesn't make much sense to me.

Good luck to him...... I think our new lad is a better prospect.

he was a free agent when spurs signed him,so he went to the club who offered him the most dosh in wages and signing on fee,so hardly a Evertonian at heart, his dad was.
Spurs need cover with Sandro out so paid what Schalke wanted, they get money for 4 months and dont pay his wages,Krauts are good at business

I agree. Still can't quite way up why they would let his contract run right down though when he's only 22. They signed him on a 4 year contract in 2009 so surely if he was that good they could have offered him more dough at some point during that time to keep him at the club and protect their investment. For all I know they may have offered him renewed terms etc but Tottenham had been tapping him up long before - Levy style!

Anyway he's already got the haircut and stupidly big watch to fit right in at spurs.

He'll be parked on the bench and flogged to QPR/Reading/West Ham within 18 months...

yeah, just like with Pienaar, the Spurs won't know how to use him.  He should have come to Merseyside!
