Stupid decision to sack Adkins.. but works in our favour for Monday night. Will be very disappointed now if we don't make the most of their **** up and take the 3 points!

Teams notoriously put in a performance after losing a manager.

    Done us no favours

yeah does us no favours...teams generally have a spike in form when a new manager arrives....

obviously they had lined up the new guy before the chelsea game......very unfair on atkins....surely his job this season was to keep them up, and currently their out of the bottom 3, and after a poor start looking like they would survive....

Disgraceful decision, considering they were playing tranmere & doncaster 2 seasons ago.

What was he meant to achieve?

Yes you have to hand it to those fans who go to all the away games.....God knows what time they'll get home from this one.

There are no easy games though, sacked Manager or not.

I am actually a little shocked they decided now was the time to replace him, especially with an untested foreign coach, no disrespect to the guy as i have no clue about his history as a manager but if they had gone for Curbishley or someone with experience you could probably understand that. Makes no difference really, we'll still batter 'em!

This now becomes a tougher game, imo. Teams usually bond together and play out of their minds after a managerial change, in all sports.

I think the players will be disappointed and shocked with Adkins sacking... and the fact its a relatively inexperienced foreign manager coming in to replace him, will take the team and manager a while longer to adjust. Fans will voice their displeasure as well if we get 1 up early on in the match, putting Southampton under pressure. Don't think a new manager will revitalize their season in this situation (they were doing well enough in my opinion). Anyway its a match we should be winning if we have any European qualification hopes, let alone Champions League!

Adkins brought them up two divisions in two years, had just got them out of the relegation zone and over saw them turn around a two nil deficit at the home of the European champions, i think a few players will be annoyed he's been treated like this.

I know there is no great loyalty in football but Southampton have banged on for years about keeping players together, bringing them through the ranks etc, pity that doesn't include their most success manager in years, hypocrites

Why couldn't they have waited til Summer?
This does nothing but increase their probability of being relegated - which I hope they are!

Why all the Saints hate? I'd much prefer Newcastle, Villa and QPR to go down.
