me being a Lazy t**t got HMV Vouchers for practically everyone I know, they aint happy I tell thee.

    -----------------

HMV will no longer be honouring vouchers. However, the person who bought the voucher might be able to claim the money back from their debit or credit card issuer using either Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act or the Chargeback scheme.

Section 75 will cover you if you bought something for more than £100 (up to a limit of £30,000) using your credit card. This is because your credit card provider will be jointly liable - together with the retailer - if anything goes wrong and will reimburse you the cost of the purchase. If the value is under £100, it's still worth contacting the provider as it might still reimburse you.

The Chargeback scheme works in a similar way and although it is not law (like Section 75) for providers to adhere to most do so. The scheme also covers debit cards and allows card issuers to reverse a transaction if there's a problem with something you've bought.

Claims must be addressed to your card provider within 120 days of finding out there's a problem. The card provider will then pass on a claim to the merchant's bank – but there is no guarantee the claim will be successful.

If the voucher was purchased with cash or cheques there is no protection and the buyer should contact the administrator to make a claim.

this has been coming for years with HMV, they have never got with the times, the same will happen with GAME, they are just plain greedy. Why, in this day and age would anyone pay 14 quid for a cd when you can buy it in a supermarket or online, itunes etc for a 10er??

The same thing with GAME, i refuse to spend money there, they do not pay their bills and this has a massive affect on the whole gaming industry. How can they justify charging £50 for a product, when you can get it online or most other similar retailers for 40 quid?? Don;t get me started cos it f_cking pisses me off.

If they TRY and save either, they are just throwing good money after bad. They have had years to get with the times, but instead have been happy running up massive debts and not sorting out the issues at hand.

I'm really sorry for anyone that has bought vouchers at HMV. And imo if you cant get your money back i would be seeking legal advice because its theft at the end of the day, the people that are running the company will have known this was going to happen but were happy letting people purchase them. Its F-CKING annoys me. I'm that mad i could smash the lap top up that these corporations are CONTINUALLY allowed to get away with stealing from the common man.. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

that too mate, this country is a bloomin joke when it comes to borrowing and lending.

There should be a database that tracks people's borrowing, the same for companies.

What they get away with is border line fraud and the banks should be more wise to it cos they (alot of the time) are allowing them to run debts up when they know there is little chance they will get it back.

HMV Ireland are having a meeting this morning...........as HMV Ireland is a separate company to the UK, and is not yet in administration, they may yet be honouring their vouchers (they may legally have to).......i guess an announcement will be made this afternoon.....
