Although at the end of the day it comes down purely to personal choice - I much prefer android to Iphone and I woked in the mobile market for 5 years so know a bit of what I'm talking about.

One look at youtube on drop tests between the two will show that the iPhone 5 wins hands down, from whichever height you want to drop it from.   Of course any phone will break if dropped in a certain way, but there are very few ways you can drop an iPhone 5 where the screen will break, not so for Samsung's. It's all down to build quality and Samsung's don't have it.  :)

I was not comparing toughness of the two phones....I was comparing overall performance and capability including vfm...

The S3 is a better phone, no doubt, i still had the Apple rose tinted glasses when the 5 came out. Apart from your mates, i've not heard of a single one breaking though, and i work in central London, a lot of people have them. What are your mates doing with them! Build quality aside, my other reservation with Samsung would be Touchwiz, Sense ****s all over it. If HTC can design a better skin than Samsung, there's something wrong there, given Samsung have more than enough cash for R&D these days. Having said that, i want a phone with a huge screen and the features and stylus on the Note 2 make me want it. Plus the Android Market is more than a match for the App Store now, Apple may have a gazillion apps but most of them a ****.
