I'll be in this boat in a couple of months too, Iphone 5 or not.
Have to say I find myself using it as a personal computer more and more often.... even if I do refuse to put email on it. So feel myself being attracted to a larger screen.
That said, it does look awful when someone virtually pulls half a laptop out of their suit pocket to take a phone call.

I know, I see people standing taking videos with Ipads, they look ridiculous. There just doesn't seem to be a choice really. Android is crap, my daughters going from Android to Iphone cos hers is due as well. Think half of it is cos you want something different but when you look theres just no comparison. -

Posts: 6,905January 10 Hmmmm, my daughter has had a Galaxy while I have had an Iphone, she's had nothing but trouble whilst I have had none. Its a bit off putting. She can't wait to get shut of it.I might get my arl Nokia 6310i back out.

Posts: 3,235January 10 What annoys me most about it is that I need a separate browser just to use this forum, as once a thread gets past 1 page the posts won't load, and then the other browsers won't let you log in and post so you're posting blind. I picked up my old htc legend the other day and miss Android big time.

I'm kind of attracted to android because its Linux based, but repulsed because its google owned. That and people say it isn't very good either.
I feel it will be the iphone 5 but, similar to you I'd imagine, just wish that choice wasn't pretty much taken as read.
Another thing its build quality I suppose, nothing else seems to come close there.

I'll go and have a look at whats on offer. The Google thing puts me off more than anything. One organisation I would happily set fire to. Android can do one. So its Windows phone or Apple. Like choosing whether to be raped by Mike Tyson or Micky Rooney. -
Posts: 3,235January 10 Nothing beats the iPhone 5 build quality, it's nigh on indestructible. One issue though, the black one scratches up if you look at it wrong, so as tough as it may be, you'll need a case for the back if you plan on selling it when you're done.

Windows or Apple... thats just not a choice is it.
Plus, if ever something goes wrong.
You book youself an appointment online....and you meet someone at the allotted time who.... knows what they are doing..... And they sort it out, there and then.
And if they can't sort it out, at the exact moment they realise that they can't sort it out.... from that moment... mere seconds exist in which time you can say next to nothing.... and a brand new phone is in your hands.
Or....you could try walking into phones 4 you, carphone warehouse or some other_fuckwit inhabited hell hole and try your luck...
And..... I've just sold myself the iphone5

Posts: 1,091January 10 I f'kin hate Itunes... for that reason I won't touch apple but if you've got an Iphone already go for the upgrade, they rather genorously made it near impossible to copy your contacts etc from an Iphone to anything else.
Having said that the hardware is good but most phones now have outrun the software that runs on them so its all much of a muchness.. No real benefit on a phone between quad and dual core processors for example... can't think of 4 process hungry activities you would be doing on a phone.
Personally I'm getting the next Galaxy when my contract runs out but its really a choice of Itunes or explorer imo.

See I have itunes but don't use it that much. I listen to music in the car or the radio in the house. If I go for a run I largely listen to the radio anyway.
I download spotify one and it said I have free use of it for 24 hours of something.... to be honest, although I do take note of personal data and hate the amount of data these devices create and take from you..... I've not paid much attention to itunes or DRM on the whole.
What would you use while avoiding itunes?

Completely disagree - Two mates, two iphone 5's, two cracked screens - Like anything, drop it in the right place and you're fu.cked.
Check out any comparison review and the Galxy S3 comes out on top against the Iphone 5.
S4 comes out around April/ May time.
Although at the end of the day it comes down purely to personal choice - I much prefer android to Iphone and I woked in the mobile market for 5 years so know a bit of what I'm talking about.
