2011/12 Club Accounts

It's on page 45 if memory serves. They're a London club - there's a natural media bias unfortunately, the Sky 4 get picked up for the majority of extra matches and the smaller club games tend always to be against. . . the Sky 4. I suppose it's the main way in which the Premier League stops them selling their own TV rights. You haven't read it wrong though, they do have a ludicrous wage bill. A lot of teams do - I think our wage bill is the 8th highest (I could be wrong, but not by much) in the league. I would imagine 'Other Operating Charges' would be more than £20m for a lot of clubs though. The Chairman being blind-sided by a question about a category that probably includes thousands of odds and sods is no real surprise though. I couldn't even tell you were my wages go.

Not exactly his wages though are they?

Seems inconceivable that our revenue has adjusted by the amounts suggested thru' the reasons they've stated.

Drop in revenue is only £2m in total, it's entirely reasonable to expect revenue to drop with a downturn in ticket sales and TV revenue. Personally, I'd say someone operating a scam would be more likely to have a ready answer than an honest man (look at Dirty Harry's tax dealings), I'd have been more worried if he'd come out with an answer than by the fact that he couldn't. Unfortunately Everton are not a wealthy club - lets face it, the land Goodison is built on is probably worth about a tenner, the capacity is low and the ticket prices are at the low end (still too high for me) of the spectrum for pricing, we're no longer an established worldwide audience draw (meaning a smaller share of TV revenue as Sky attempts to please the Chinese and American audiences) and the weight of Peter Johnson was never quite removed from the clubs shoulders.

I can understand fans getting annoyed at the lack of out of pocket investment from the board, that's understandable (though these are still classed as loans and are required to be paid back - unless your Chairman is a Russian Oil boss or a Sheik in which case, for some reason, you can write them off), but in terms of the business of running the club I can't see much wrong with it. They're riding their luck in hoping Moyes can keep overachieving (no doubt why his money's so good) and, I would think, are praying that the new TV money and FIFA's financial fair play regulations help the club to regain lost ground it could not otherwise.

I understand fans getting upset, but cast your mind back to one of the main reasons we're goosed to start with. Good old Peter Johnson, now he was a crooked c*nt.

but one thing im sure of, we will get the biggest deal in history off sky, sell felliani for 30 million baines for 20 million jelavic for 20 million, sell goodison park for 100 million move to sefton park buy no players and come next years annual report we will still be 40 odd million in debt :))

If there's one thing you can say definitively it's that over the course of Moyes reign all money gained in player sales has been reinvested in the playing staff at the club - hence the even net spend (you've made me sound like an RS, I hope you're happy). If, as has been suggested on another thread, Kenwright's main concern is a good dividend every year, then it makes it incredibly unlikely he'd be looking to run the club into the ground - good businessmen are seldom going to make burgers from a cash cow.

how can you say definately, most transfers conducted over the last 3 years in or out are nearly undisclosed fee , we dont really know how much we exactly buy and sell players for why is that now, every deal is undisclosed dont know why its so secretive.

Only one undisclosed incoming and two undisclosed outgoing. Undisclosed is quite often used by the press as a substitute for 'nominal fee', mostly because the quality of journalism these days is **** poor.

I'd say it's become more of an issue since Kenwright has been in charge simply because money, rather than football is the driving force behind football. I can't see fans in the 80's searching desperately for holes in the accounts.

so over the last 4 seasons weve made over 20 million profit on transfers yet the debt is rising, were making on average 5 million a season on selling players we havent reinvested everything over the last 4 years

That's transfer values, it doesn't include loan fees or agent fees, plus in the four years before that we spent £40m - hence the reason I said over the course of Moyes time in charge. It's up to you what you believe mate, I'm not going to try and talk you out of your conspiracy theory - but I do have a genuine piece of the Roswell Alien Spaceship for sale at a reasonable price for true believers, I've also heard there's a place called Toffeeweb where all the cool kids hang out.

    Lots of,if not all,good points.

Pity our board aren't as transparent.

And of the theories of BK taking a hefty dividend each year?

If the company has made a loss, the dividends will be negative- IE the shareholders have to pay the money into the company. I would like to see a breakdown of these other running costs, though. Also, how about an investigation into the sponsors' accounts: the money they are paying into the club does seem small. Maybe they are remunerating the shareholders via some back-door route?

Possibly, wouldn't be the 1st time a scam over shadowed a football club.

im happy if theres progress made at everton on and off the field , if you want to include all transfers under moyes than thats upto you, im not looking for conspiracies im looking for progress and our debts are rising and over the last few years were not reinvesting all transfer moneys its declining and will continue to do so, we have spent less on players than we have brought in and the debts still rising, eventually unless were taken over the debt will become unmanageable and we wont have any decent players left to sell, there is only decline off the field under the current board, its a wonder moyes has managed to put a decent team together with this excuse for a board
