If you could have any former player in the side today who would you have? I would have to say Neville Southall! Saved many points!

    Tough call......
Be great to have lineker, but when jelavic finds his form again he'll be deadly....
Be great to have kanchelskis, but a fit again mirallas has loads of potential...

Would love Reid, Rooney or Beardsley back.....but I think the man who'd improve us the most would be Southall.....we'd have alot more points this season with a world class keeper, and there was no one better than Big Nev....

When, I saw this thread title, I taut to myself, the first **** who nominates Big Dunc deserves a severe slap!

    So far so good.

    Carry on!

I think old school keepers are missing these days! What happened to the dive and catch?!

If I had my blue tinted specs on I would say Joe parkinson as when fully fit he dominated all comers to the old lady

Southall is a great shout but I think football in this era is about attack and for me Sheedy would offer so much in the modern game maybe lacked a little bit of pace by modern standards but he would make us for that with his speed of thought

    Good thread this!

Big Dunc is an obvious choice for hi goal scoring record and pure talent

    But i would love Kanchelskis

Even the much maligned Mikel Madar had a better scoring record than that lump....and didn't cost up umpteen points with Stupid red cards either.

I wouldn't choose anyone who only gave one year to the club - like Lineker or Kanchelskis.

Loved Southall. It didn't feel like Everton anymore when he first left the team.

Sheedy, Dave Watson. Pat VDH, Martyn, Sharp, Gray and Stevens - I'd take any of them.

Lets not forget the legendary invaluables like Andy van der Mayde, Brett Angell, and Toby Linderoth
