    Its a point,though.

We do produce some decent players but not as many as you would imagine, ratio wise.

They must put 100's of kids/young lads (I'm sure every clubs the same) thru' finch farm, yet produce 1 every 2-3 years that is average.

    Makes you wonder.............

Not sure how much the whole youth set up costs but lets say in 10 years we.ve produced players to sell on to the value of 40 mil inc' roo, rod, vaughan etc.

Thats over a good 10 year of sell ons. What if you have a bad 10 years.?

Does it cost more than 2 mil a year to run that facility? 40 k per week.?

Sure its a tax fiddle as its seems like a non profit making carry on to me.

I'd love to own Everton just to take over the YA, I'd spend a small fortune.

    On what.like.

Theres not much talent so maybe a re-dec?

I'd love to own us to get rid of the sponges & hangers on.

The in- justice of all our wealth being fritted away by so many with so little forsight.

    2 words.... Owen & Fowler

    -----------------

Yeah, so they are two players who came good but were plagued by injuries from starting too early.

Haven't seen medical proof of that, lots of players get injuries, lots don't.

Theres prob' more players start early without long term injuries than get them.

    Milner,Gerrard etc.

It ties along with the same theory that lifting weights early can cause problems for you later on in life. While this isn't necessarily correct, it is true in some respects. If you're lifting very heavy weights it will damage your growth plates which causes problems. Similarly, putting the demands of a Premiership footballer on your body too early is detrimental too.

If your lifting weights when your 3 maybe.

Were talking footballers who are adults,18-19.WTF.

Get them on the pitch & flog them to death.

I'd do a complete rebuild, turn it into a complete footballing and academic establishment. They'd attend from age 4, with the right coaches, teachers and training regimes we'd **** all over MU's excuse for an academy. Liverpool has so much raw footballing talent, raised correctly we'd have our own La Masia, and then some.

    How much did FF cost?

If its that cr-ap,what sh-it for brains designed it?

I agree its a footballing city & should be nurtured but between us & the other shower we don't.

No idea what the total was off the top of my head but in terms of our income, it was a big investment, it's not crap. Like I said, I'd spend a small fortune.

I assumed what you mentioned as your 'dream' facility was what we had.

Surely we new players need nurturing/educating early.Surely we knew its more cost effective to develop than buy.

If we didn't & we don't,whats the point?

It's all very well knowing the best thing to do, having the finances is another matter altogether.

Men don't stop developing and growing until they reach 21 (and in late-bloomer cases it can be as old as 24). If you damage your growth plates before this age it will have consequences. How old is Barkley

    Exactly.
