Barkley

    With felli out,mirelas injured,nev just back,heitinga not a midfielder,victor just back,& coleman out?

Thats six players who you would of thought Barkley had half a chance of replacing at some point this month.

Don't think moysie rates the lad as much as the lip service given.

That puts him behind Hitz, ossie, pienarr, naismith, gibbo & any other combo of players.

Thats at least 11 players before he gets a start. WTF?

    How bad is he?

Judging from the opinions of Wednesday fans during his time there, he's a decent enough player with a future at the top level if he can sort his decision making out. I'd rather give him time than let him go and have no chance of ever being able to afford the kind of player he could be. If he doesn't become that player, at the very least, the rest of the youth players can see that if they have talent, at Everton, they won't just be thrown out on their ear for not developing as swiftly as expected.

    good shout.

Still would expect a bit of game time though.

I suppose our games are so tight that its not wise to experiment in those situations.

Why bring him back from loan then when he was getting the experience required to make him progress quicker?

Very good question and I agree. If we aren't going to even give him a go, should've let him stay on loan where he would be getting minutes.

I suppose it was because at that point we were potentially short in midfield if another niggle cropped up and Moyes wanted him on the ball and ready to step in, rather than be rushed back at short notice. I'm just speculating though, he may just have wanted Barkley around the first team whilst we were playing so well, could be anything really.

    Thats all I can think.

    Options,options,options.

Will he go back out on loan?

Hope so,'cos with 11 or 12 options in front of you,its gonna be a long wait for a game & frustrating.

I'm kind of hoping he's being saved for the run in, fresh legs with the skill to make things happen. He could be the catalyst for CL football. A man can dream lol.

    Another loan's more likely though.

Look at Rooney; straight to the top but he's started to decline since two seasons ago. Moyes doesn't want Barkley to burn out. That being said, I don't see him being as good as people think he is. He's our best youth player - so what? Doesn't mean he's a good player compared to everyone else.

I'm still hopeful that he'll get a run of games in March April May, at which point he'll be fresh and able to make more of an impact against tiring teams...might be a very useful weapon......

if moyes is starting with 2 up top (as he did against Wigan) then theres absolutely no way Barkley should replace gibbo or osman who have been outstanding. He obviously has alot of talent, but with us doing so well whats the rush?

I'd sooner burn a player out while he's still got it,for say 6-7 years, than a career of mediocraty.

Look at all the players with potential down the years who never got a chance & slipped down the divisions.

2 seasons ago Moyes was supposedly fending off £10million bids from Chelsea and United, the kid must be worth at least 30 bob now,

I was just thinking, maybe Moyes is trying to keep him from making his mark in the PL just yet. Why, I hear you ask! Maybe so that he can bring him and George Green through at the same time. :p
