Formations/strategies

So, I've seen a few people talking about the 4-4-2 formation, and I've also heard about others as well. Is this typically what Everton plays, more so than not? Also, is this more of a prevent type style, vs heavily offensive?

    Question from a newbie :)

    Thanks, all!

Welcome Scott....normal formation with moyes is 4-4-1-1....for the past year its been an offensive style as we get our full backs foward, and have mainly attack minded midfielders....today might be slightly different as we're missing players like fellaini, mirallas and Coleman (don't expect Neville to get forward as much as Coleman would)....

No worries mate. It's not like there's ever really just one formation, although it looks it on paper. A team will have a formation to attack with and one to defend, it's the transitions where you'll find success. Unless you have top players who make their own goals.

That makes sense. I've read a few things so far about what you mentioned...having good "2-way" players, if you will, for that purpose.

It means Moyes will hope to play offensive enought to get a goal...after that they will play offensively and hope to see out the win
