If people want to get guns they will get them. The USA is in such a state that banning guns will do nothing; there are too many of them.

surley if they were outlawed, and anyone caught in posession of one got a jail sentence, that would at least minimise the problem?..there would be fewer shootings?

Why outlaws guns? It's the idiots who do this stuff, not responsible gun owners. Idiots will still get their hands on them, outlawed or not.

You wonder exactly how many innocent kids have to be slaughtered before Americans stop wanting to be cowboys....my guess is a million more....vested interests will ensure no kid in America is ever safe...very sad stuff

Almost the exact same thing happened in China yesterday too, but with a knife. Should knives be outlawed too?

Well a rifle is used for hunting, which is a HUGE sporting industry in my state. People deer hunt here religiously. I don't own a rifle but I do own a shotgun and sometimes go shoot clay pigeons with it. It's pretty fun.

No worries, I'm not a moron. If guns were outlawed, then only the thugs would have them. Criminals are criminals for a reason. Then they could do anything they wanted without worrying about being shot. If you took away our guns over here, it would get way worse in a hurry. I read that when Australia banned firearms, violent crime skyrocketed. Because criminals had no reason to worry about being shot at by someone they try to rob or whatever. I know things are different over here but if I here someone breaking into my house and I threaten to shoot them and they still don't leave, it's their own damn fault. They deserve to be shot.

To obtain a gun licence a psychiatric assessment should take place at the very least. Surely something could be done to save lives?
