Think its impossible to call.....luck aside obviously.

But if Cavendish won it in 2011 you would think Wiggins but I have a sneaky feeling that Murray just might do it.

its a public vote, so Ennis will be super popular......the BBC had her on Graham Norton last friday, so that won't have hurt her chances.....

Wiggins prob deserves it the most......although Murray & McIlroy have had great years...and Mo Farah was probably the star of the Olympics.....

Jade is top notch, a quality example for young girls and genuinely seems a nice person. She's had plenty of awards already though. Her Gold was one of the highlights of the Olympics for me.

Wiggins is the only one who has any trace of a personality. He says things that are his own, considered opinion. He does not just simper and spout media/sponsor-friendly guff, like most of them. He doesn't stand a chance.

My nominations would be Alex Higgins, George Best and James Hunt. All of them, every year, until someone with something to say comes along. So what if they are deceased? At least they are genuinely dead, rather than just pretending.

Mo Farah will win. He's the only one who's kept his image up since the Olympics (working with Virgin Media and such). Ennis has disappeared and Wiggins... eh.

It was clear that my favourite would not be nominated because he did not do "enough" with two wins in a minor category of his sport. But my personal Britsh Sports Personality 2012 is motorcycle racer Danny Kent. Against his dominating Italo-German teammate and eventual world champion Sandro Cortese (an arrogant $#@§& in my opinion) he did not step back but showed what he can. I think that those people who have to fight for recognition from the 2nd row and nevertheless get their victories and can do the next step (Danny and Sandro will meet again next year in the medium Moto2 class because they both got a contract for the bigger bikes) are the real heroes in sport. Sure it is a great achievement to win a big event like Wibledon or the Tour de France, but these people usually will have the best support and there is no competition in the own team.

I think it's going to be between Wiggins and David Weir. Obviously winning the Tour De France and Olympic Gold is huge but you can't play down Weir winning the 800m, 1500m, 5000m and the marathon at the paralympics was an unbelievable achievement!
