DAY 5 OF THE TRANSFER WINDOW.

After a very poor team performance against Bolton, the board have decided to make waves in the transfer market.

With very little or no creativity at all, the club has taken steps to address the issue by recalling Shane Duffy on loan for Scunthorpe in the hope that playing 7 defenders in the fa cup tie against Tamworth will hopefully result in a 1-0 win for Everton.

Elsewhere on day 5, there is very little rumour abounding of players coming in to the club, apart from the on/off rumour of yet another potential defender signing in Kostos Manolas from greek side AEK. Whether he will double up as a striker or creative midfielder is yet to be seen, but as he is available on a free at the end of the season, it would not surprise that Everton could be in late for him in the January window as surely his price will drop the closer it gets to the close of the window.

The rumour of Eveton being interested in Nacer Chadli from dutch club TWENTE is surely pie in the sky for a number of reasons, one being he is actually an attacker which would go against Everton's philosophy of trying to field 10 outfield players as defenders. The most important reason however being that the Belgian international would actually cost money (yes that thing that we all need that makes the world go round that Everton have none of) amd with Everton's budget of 94p to spend it is more than likely that they will be out bid by Yeovil Town...... So unless the player is willing to 'buy' himself for Everton, the possibility of him ending up at Goodison has a likely hood rating of about 0.5/10.

It looks like being another quiet transfer window for Everton with very little money to spend, but, there will be an update each day to let everyone know the rumours that are flying around and that there are potential signings out there for the club, so................

A quick update for the window and Everton's alleged interest in Barnsley's Jacob Butterfield seems to be gathering momentum http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/everton-fc/everton-fc-news/2012/01/05/everton-fc-rumour-mill-belgium-move-link-playmaker-butterfield-monitored-100252-30066402/? currently injured until the end of the season with Knee ligament damage, Butterfield is surely an ideal fit for Everton as he would be able to spend a lot of time getting to know the lads off the field, especially Saha and Rodwell who seem to have both fallen in love with the club's physio and seem intent on spending as much time as possible on his treatment table. Butterfield could make for a very interesting love triangle scenario. Expect the blues to make their move soon.......

The final piece of news is the emerged interest in Inter Milan's  Luc Castaignos. Inter seem willing to offload players in the January window to get their wage bill down. Castaignos' prolific scoring abillity of which he has scored 1 goal so far this season, seems to fit in with Everton's philosophy of not actually wanting to score. There could be a move before the end of the window, and if there is, expect David Moyes to have turned him into a world class defender before the end of the premier league season.

More news as we get it.......

Ha. I always thought Gibson was a good signing and that was even when we thought we were paying £2 Million for him!

I still think we can get more from him too!
