Think we look more solid in the middle of the park which has given the defence and large boost. Such an underated player he makes our team click

hes got a certain calmness and confidence on the ball that seems to come from playing at Man Yoo

i did wonder wtf we were signing him for when we got him but again Moyes comes good with his signings.

Heard off many man u fans that he never got a decent chance in the team cos his passing wasn't good enough!!! Seems strange to me his passing ability seems really good to me I personally think they tried to play him to far up the pitch because of his shooting ability. I think moyes has just found the right position/role for him on the pitch. Wonder if fergie maybe thinks he should of given him more of a chance. Oh well thier loss our gain :)

i hate saying this coz i dont like to talk us down, but realistically there is a certain calibre of player who looks poor in a team full of stars and luxury players, but looks that bit better in a more modest team. i think thats what happened with pienaar at spurs, and i think Gibbo shines brighter in a hard working team like ours than one full of the big names as he was at united

I don't know about the team but I certainly feel calmer when he's playing.

do you reckon the rest of the team feel more confident when he's in because of the fact we've never lost a premier league game that he's played 75 minutes or more in, in a 3'oclock kick off, when the winds blowing from the north east and the temperature is between 2 - 10 degrees?

bunch of superstitious lot these footy players!

I kind of agreed on this point with Gibson but also think confidence is more of the point here. At Manyoo, he was surrounded by top quality midfield players. That and Ferguson knew he had better players and therefore didn't pick Gibson much.

Disagree on Pienaar though. Bale is an outstanding player. There was talk of him being a left back, but lets be fair, his pace and trickery are wasted there when he can be using in a more attacking position.

My point is that Pienaar was at the time, contractually speaking, a very cheap option for Harry to pick up should Spurs get a massive offer for Bale. Harry could also use the much vaunted Baines and Pienaar partnership to sell Pienaar what life could be like linking up with Bale on the left.

But Bale did not get the move that was rumoured despite Harry talking about mega money in the press.

Harry never used Bale at left back preferring to use his talents further forward.

Bale offers more on the left of midfield than Pienaar does.

Simply put. If we had Bale at Everton, Pienaar wouldn't be playing left midfield for us either.

I ain't getting too excited yet about us looking defensively sounder. We were always gonna be A LOT more cautions with committing players forward away at Man City - Gibson or no Gibson. We'll probably be cautious also next Sunday.

Its the following games against Stoke, West Ham and Wigan which will be big pointers as to whether we're much tighter defensively or not!
