Give him a break. He was our best player for absolutly ages and realistically didnt have a choice when he moved.

Anybody that genuinely follows us will tell you that.

Admittedly i hope he is crap tonight but he would be in my top 5 blues over the last 10 years

Luckily we don't use chains to keep players here, otherwise it would smell the whole season through.

We've got Drenthe and Strac right after Arteta move, right? And had wonderful signings in jan.

I'm with Simon on this one, you can't possibly hold a gun to our clubs head and then expect a warm welcome back from it's fans.

I am not bitter or fickle about players leaving in normal circumstances but he was injured for a very long period and when he came back we rewarded him with the biggest contract in our history, he then waited till the last minute to hand in a transfer request to go to a team which other than competing in the champions league are not likely to offer much different a career than staying with us. Lescott and Rooney both at least left to win things!

I think a few pairs of tinted glasses need removing

So basically Smigs, what your saying is, if it suits you its ok for a player to come back to the club, but if it doesn't, your not?

You sound like your contradicting yourself tbh fella.

Not at all Sambo, i don't know what got lost in translation but basically my gripe with him is that he waited until the last minute to hand in a transfer request having previously signed a mammoth contract to go to a team that wasn't likely to win him anything. It is a lack of respect in my eyes. If he was leaving as he had a chance to win things i think it's a different matter altogether, i wouldn't refuse Lescott a round of applause

so when we got beat 6-1 at home by Arsenal in Lescott's last game for us, when he just mooched around the pitch not giving a toss, thats ok?? Just a thought like fella :)

haha, i could of written that response for you. Pity Arteta was injured again or he could of saved us!

You know what i am saying stop being purposefully obtuse. Arteta left us in the lurch without just cause, imho.

My point being is mate, that if some one leaves, maybe its jsut the right time for them to leave....we got Gibson and Jelavic with the Arteta money?? Or some of it at least went towards it.....we sold Lescott and got Heitinga, Distin, Billy (coughs), amongst others.......so in the long term, even including Rooney, its mainly been for the good of the club finance wise, so surely anyone should be welcomed back??

What do you mean Arteta could of saved us?? Saved us from what lol. we havnt been relegated, or struggled to avoid relegation?? Or am i missing the point?

All the players mentioned left by their own request, or so we are lead to believe, but only two left to win things. Arteta left us in the lurch for half a season as there was no time to replace him by acting the way he did in turning his back at the end of the transfer window on a club that had treated him amazingly well and had showed a massive faith towards him. I find that hard to accept, i don't know maybe i expect too much of footballers

Yes you are, i meant from getting thumped 6-1 at home!

Arteta left to paly CL football which i could understand at his time of his career, and its not his fault Arsenal left it til last minute to sell Fabregas to Barca or the deal might have been done sooner?

hahahahahaha, now your on the wind up ;)

It's just my opinion but he i feel he treated us without respect in jumping ship, but there is value in what you say too mate, so i'll just leave it at that.

Arsenal have been close to the top, champions league for how many years now, Arteta will play CL football the rest of his career in the PL, and who knows how far they could go, got a big ground, investment, surrounded by great players. You're right, we've been challenging 'em though football-wise. COYB.
