Tim Howards concerns about Moyes leaving. How serious is it?

    "Moyes has delayed contract negotiations until the New Year, despite his current terms running out at the end of the season, and it is widely expected he will eventually seek a new challenge.

    Now he is overseeing the strongest Goodison challenge for the top four in seven years, and probably the strongest team during his decade on Merseyside, Moyes will have much to ponder over the next few months.

    Howard is sure Moyes will be in demand – his former club United have long been tipped as likely suitors – and he is dreading the impact it would have on Everton if the manager left.

    “The next person who comes in after David Moyes is going to have a very difficult job because the gaffer has done brilliant here,” said Howard. “Obviously for us to go forward and have what we have, we need him to be steering the ship. It’s vital to keep him.

    “It’s a very similar situation here at Everton to what it will be like at United post-Ferguson. When you have longevity and success, it’s hard to match."

    the uncertainty around Harry Redknapp last season (linked with the England job) led to spurs going on their worst run of the season (they were up there with city & united...they ended up nearly losing 4th spot)........they only picked up form again when Woy got the England job......

    so uncertainty about the future of the manager does effect players....it shouldn't......but it does.....

    if our top players realise that moyes doesn't want to be here next season.....then why would they want to be here.... so what does it matter where we finish this season......

    Moyes waffled about it on sunday.......said himself & Bill could sort out a new contract in 5 minutes, there just isn't the time right now....total crap....if you want to sign a new deal, sign it.......i don't think Moyes wants to......he'll be hoping a bigger job offer comes his way this summer, Everton will be his back up......

    I think he wants Europe, if that comes he'll sign if not, we move on. I'd nominate Martinez for the job as i think he would fit our attacking style, so long as he never ever went three at the back though, just doesn't work.

    Arsenal is a possibility....Spurs job might come up again.....Man City job is possible also, he's a better manager than Mancini is, so why not....

    if Man Utd win the league this season, Fergie might decide to go out on a high.....so moyes has a good chance of that.....

    whether he'll get any of these jobs or not is irrellevant right now, fact is Moyes thinks he can get a bigger job, and thats why he's stalling with us...which might have a negative effect on our results as the whole saga drags on....

    Spurs had the opportunity but preferred AVB, nothings changed so I don't think they would want him next time either.

    Man Utd, no chance, they will want a much bigger name with a proven track record.  Clubs like Everton take a chance on Managers, clubs like Man u don't!

    Better than Mancini? Their respective CV's would suggest otherwise.  They are buying success through their investment in players and again will only consider big name proven managers.

    Arsenal . . .well they do put finances before success and whether it is club directive or Wenger's own policy but they try not to spend much.  However I really don't think Moyes style of football would appeal nor his ten trophy less seasons!

    Moyes will not get one of the top jobs.

    Everton have been praised this season for their attacking style of football....so Moyes is showing he can be a manager who plays attractive football......& we're playing much better football than AVB has his tottenham team playing.....

    Mancini hasn't a clue about tactics, he's fortunate that he's been able to buy top class players who win him games with individual play rather than team play.....Moyes would do better there with the players Man City have than Mancini is doing.....

    Fergie will have a big say on who replaces him....and he likes Moyes (so do most of their fans)......not saying he'll get that job, but he has a decent chance...

    Out of all of those the only remote possibility for me is that he goes to Man U directlyunder Fergie for a couple of years but even that is a longshot!

    Im not a Moyes basher or Moyes hater but I would like to see a refresh and I am not sure that moyes has the options that he thinks he does when the day actually dawns.

    yeah you might be right...but again my original point isn't whether Moyes will actually get a bigger job.....its the fact that Moyes thinks he's gonna get a bigger job.....

    Agree and I do think that Moyes does believe that and in all fairness I suppose that he should.

    I know its hypothetical but would you have Di Matteo?

    He was great with Chelski imo.... If Moyes left, then yeah, why not?

    Moyes has been on a reported £3m per annum for the past four years and , being a Scotsman, most of this will remain in his bank. Eating his dinner at the training ground, taking butties home for his missus, that sort of thing. Allowing for his having a palatial bothy, at £1m or so, he is still a rich man. The club should just offer him a 25% shareholding at a discount, as long as he stays.

    i think its ridiculous he's been sacked, done a great job...really he's been let down by Torres, who Abramovich bought & wanted in the team.....didn't fair so well when he managed West Brom though, so i'd be hesitant....

    right now for us i'd prefer Martin Jol or Martinez.......and Steve Clarke is doing amazing things at West Brom.....then from the lower leagues, someone young like Simon Grayson, doing well at Huddersfield (thought he done fairly well at leeds too for a young manager)

    I thought he was harshly treated at West Brom too to be honest.  They came up under him and then I think they expected too much too soon.

    Steve Clarke you have to be impressed with though I can't see them maintaining their current position they should be top 10.

    Definitely not Martinez for me.  Same as Moyes, probsably exceeded expecrtation with current club limitations but I'm not sure he really has proven anything.

    Simon Grayson I can admire but I would hope we would set our sights a bit higher and bring someone in who has won things to inspire the players and the fans.
