Interesting Language From Moyes?

Ignore that this is about Neville getting a new contract for a minute. I sense something much much more important in this article.

Moyes saying he would have no qualms about recommending to the board that Neville and Distin get one year contract extensions, appears to me as something that may be interpreted as Moyes distancing himself from what will happen here next season.

    Maybe!

If we have a good season and qualify for Europe, I don't see why Moyes would want to leave.

He sound like he is talking in 3rd person, like the decision is out of his hands so he is sort of saying 'IF it were upto me, then i would give them.....etc'......interesting mate

yeah possibly......as i think Moyes has alot of power when it comes to handing out new contracts......i mean if he asks Bill, can he get a contract extension for 2 players, or can he have 8-10m pounds to replace them, what do you think Bill will say?...

on the other hand...Harry Redknapp used to always say the same, and said he never knew what wages his players were making (which i found unbelievable)......but it does seperate business from football....i mean Moyes doesn't want Neville & Distin talking to him directly about new deals everyday in the training ground...comments like this make things less personal between him & his players with financial matters......
to Neville's face he's now saying "you deserve a new contract, you're great"........to the Bill & the board, he might be saying "i think i can get this season out of Neville, but he's struggling, and i don't think we can use him next season".....

"Recommend to the board" is the parlance of a director who sits on the board. Maybe Moyes' new contract will include a shareholding in the club, in lieu of an employee's salary? When it comes to reading things into things, I retain an optimist's viewpoint.

"Neville joined the Toffees in 2005 after a decade of first-team action at Manchester United and was given the captaincy two years later.

The former England international has made 279 starts for Everton - out of the current squad, only veteran defender Tony Hibbert and Leon Osman have made more appearances. Distin, meanwhile, moved to Goodison Park from Portsmouth in 2009 after two years on the south coast and has since made 117 starts for the club."

no indication there that moyes is thinking in any terms other than the team and the players. its only a bad sign because keeping players like these two on means we can't afford replacements.

Sounds like hes concentratin on winning games n the good bits of his job rather than the borin homework esq aspects like contract renewals etc inc his. Not due yet, deal w it later. Jus dont let the dog scoff his or distins like he did w goslings that time.

if we can somehow prevent losing like we did so far, that will strengthen the hand of the old guard - but should we start dropping games the pressure for injecting new energy will increase - we have to start focussing on winning games rather than not losing games if we want to get back into Europe
