it might have only been a friendly but the opening to their national stadium, beating a supposed "big team" and all goals by your top player, capped off with that overhead kick... it's hard to not be happy for him and their fans. one of them good sporting moments that will be remembered for a long time

If you've ever practiced it, you'll know that the best part of the foot to hit it with is the ankle joint where the top of the boots tongue sits, exactly as Rooney did. It cups the ball as you strike it, giving control in a very difficult move. If you try and strike it as you would, right side up, you have less surface area and the foot bones to deal with. Whilst the foot bones give striking power in a normal situation, it's control you want in a move like that.

Try it out mate. Lay on your back with a wall behind you, throw the ball up and see how long you can keep it going against the wall without stopping. See for yourself which technique is better.

no it was at analfield..spurs had a corner..it got headed clear to the edge of the box to terry mac...he hit it first time out to dalgleish (ithink) he hit it first time out to highway on the wing... highway took one touch out infront of him and hit a first time cross into the box..macdermott had run the lenght of the field and headed it in from just inside spurs 18 yard box...all one touch (virtually) and a run the length of the field...
